The Solar Rechargeable
Lantern is a battery-powered lamp designed primarily for third world
countries to replace the kerosene lamp in areas where there may be
no mains electricity. Currently, one third of the worlds population
is not connected to an electricity grid.
The lantern produces ten times the light output of a kerosene lamp
and would be recharged during the day from plug-in solar panels.
Creactive developed the design in conjunction with the Intermediate
Technology Consultancy using the latest CAD solidmodelling techniques.
The CAD data was used to create rapid prototypes and production tooling
in China.
