The refurbishment is part
of Chiltern Railways’ 20-year franchise agreement. The project
for Angel Trains used a thorough consultation process.
The class 165 is mostly used by Chiltern Railways’ 11,000 daily
commuters on trips under an hour, for whom safety, punctuality and
availability of seats are top priorities.
One class of travel throughout, a combination of 2x2 and 3x2 seating
layouts, improved facilities for standing passengers, new information
systems, air cooling, designated wheelchair areas and improved materials
and finishes create a new class 165.
